Summary: This fast-growing mobile online gaming platform company needs a Contract Technical Writer to write end-user and developer wiki knowledgebase (KB) content about software security issues, as well as security policies, standards, how-to articles, and an onboarding guide.
Fully onsite, 40 hrs/week, near downtown Palo Alto (Page Mill Road, walking distance to Caltrain). Open-seating; no cubes or offices.
Audience:
Security team engineers, internal end users
Tasks:
Create multiple documentation deliverables for the Security group. Organize existing Security wiki silos into two (a knowledgebase for Security end-users and a repository for back-end information). For others, see "Deliverables". Ensure completeness, accuracy, accessibility, and relevance.
Deliverables:
(1) Two reorganized or new Security wiki silos, (2) Security policies (standardizing format based on existing policies), (3) articles on application systems topics, coding standards, security standards, (4) technical "how-to" articles (e.g., how to write secure code, how to use various security administration tools), (5) documentation about security vulnerabilities, and (6) Security team onboarding documentation
Tools:
Confluence, JIRA, Linux command line (no GUI), line-art drawing for flow charts
Soft Skills:
Focus, initiative, productivity, raw intelligence, collaboration
Team:
Work solo, occasionally collaborating with two Tech Writers on other teams. Interact with software developers and IT security engineers as well as Product Management.
Background using current IT security tools and documenting security-related policies
Shareable portfolio of clear procedures writing samples
Proven diagramming ability and ability to visualize processes
Recent IT data center experience
Working knowledge of Confluence, JIRA, Linux command line (GUIs don't count), and a line-art drawing app
Strong initiative and commitment to staying current on applicable technology, including replicating development environments and personally testing content
Strong attention to detail and focus on delivering accessible, accurate information
Desired:
Proficiency with Atlassian Confluence and JIRA
