IT teams implementing persistent cloud-based storage solutions
Tasks:
Work entirely offsite using your own equipment and your own licenses to FrameMaker 10 (for unstructured content), oXygen (for DITA XML content), and/or InDesign (for printed, in-box doc). Gather, update, augment, clarify, distill, and publish technical and logistical information (see "Deliverables") from software and hardware engineers, product managers, QA, Tech Support, and Marketing.
Deliverables:
(1) operator procedures, (2) administrator-level how-to documentation for networking and storage hardware and software products

Adobe FrameMaker (unstructured), oXygen XML Editor, InDesign

Collaborate with (and take guidance from) 4-person team of technical writers working onsite at HQ

Part-time, project-based, on-demand (ongoing). May occasionally require full-time (40 hours/week) effort. Client has kept other remote tech writers busy for multiple years – longer than most staff/salaried jobs – so if you do the work well and reliably, this could be a long-term engagement.

Required:
Familiarity with enterprise networking technologies
Working knowledge of storage technologies
Mastery of American English grammar
Ability and willingness to comply with style guidelines
Experience with single-source and task-based technical writing
Experience authoring and maintaining DITA XML content
Independent access to FrameMaker (v10 or later) and oXygen XML Editor authoring tools
Track record of autonomous productivity
Eligibility to work in the US (ie, possess an SSN or TIN) and be paid in US currency
Desired:
Experience authoring installation, configuration, and troubleshooting content in the networking or storage industry
Working knowledge of InDesign
Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Acrobat Professional
Familiarity with print and online document delivery
